A 30 Year capital markets veteran, Stephen has held senior positions in both fixed income capital markets trading and sales and loan capital markets trading and sales. He has been a Managing Director with some of the top capital markets firms in the country, such as FTN Financial, Morgan Keegan/Raymond James, Cantor Fitzgerald, and Bear Stearns.
In 2016 Stephen moved to fully devote his time to loan capital markets after seeing a distinct need for focused, analytic-based secondary loan trading advice among his community bank and credit union clients. In 2017 he joined friend Joel Banes to build the Memphis Capital Group Whole Loan Trading Desk, rounding out the firm focus as a whole loan-first broker/dealer.
Memphis Capital Group Whole Loan Trading and its affiliate broker/dealer, Memphis Capital (Member FINRA/SIPC) team up to trade over $3B per year in unsecuritized loans and loan participations, making Memphis Capital Group one of the most active loan counterparties nationwide with a focus in serving community financial institutions.
Stephen received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Finance (1992), and his Master’s in Business Administration (M.B.A.) (1993) from Arkansas State University and currently lives near Memphis in Oxford, MS with his wife and is enjoying the benefits of being a newly minted empty nester.
