I began my career in sales at Vining Sparks in 2000, where I specialized in government guaranteed loan products. In September 2001, I joined Union Planters Bank to work alongside Mark Atwill as an SBA trader, with Vining Sparks serving as the introducing broker for Union Planters Bank's SBA desk.
Following Regions Bank's acquisition of Union Planters Bank, Mark and I established an SBA desk at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in 2005. After a year, I moved to FTN Financial in 2006 to build their SBA desk, where I remained until 2013. I then spent two years at Shay Financial/Banes Capital (2013-2015) before returning to SunTrust Robinson Humphrey/Truist, where I continued until their exit from the business in 2023. Most recently, I launched an SBA desk at Hilltop Securities/Plains Capital Bank, serving from 2023 to 2025.
Throughout my career, I have been a featured speaker at numerous industry conferences, including events hosted by the SBA, NAGGL, and various state bankers associations. I have also traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally, to meet with SBA accounts. During my tenures at Union Planters Bank, SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, and Truist Bank, our teams consistently ranked among the largest SBA pool assemblers in the industry for many years.
